We see our hashtag#partnership as a model for other entrepreneurs, married or not. Many investors didn’t see it that way, especially early on, and refused to work with us because we were a husband-wife team. As it turned out, we were right for each other—as a couple and as business partners.
By the time we hashtag#cofounded Buddy Media, we had worked together to launch our consulting firm (Lazerow Consulting), raised and loved a dog (RIP Cookie), and kept three kids alive. We had pretty much derisked the cofounder relationship. Most of our work as investors and advisors involves evaluating the fit between the founders. We won’t do a deal if we aren’t confident in the partnership.
